Pilates for Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is called a silent disease because it often goes undetected until you break a bone.
When I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, I was in complete shock. I had never broken a bone, I was fit & healthy and led a very active lifestyle.
Being a Pilates instructor, I knew that its focus on balance, flexibility, mobility, and core strength was a perfect fit for people with osteoporosis. I have since completed two courses that specifically focus on osteoporosis & osteopenia (low bone density)
Pilates for Osteoporosis and Osteopenia
Buff Bones® is a medically endorsed movement system for bone & joint health.
When I started my Strong Bones class, I knew it was the perfect fit for me and many of my current clients.
The class is osteoporosis safe and is more gentle than my regular Pilates classes. It is suitable for anyone, males, females, young and old.
The class incorporates Pilates, functional movements, strength training using hand weights & your own body weight, and impact exercises which will all help improve and maintain your overall strength in your bones and muscles.
Strengthening exercises form one part of our classes, alongside balance training to help avoid & prevent falls. Reducing the risk of a fracture following a fall is a significant part of the class.
Each class will get your body moving in various directions, standing, lying and seated to keep your body mobile, flexible & strong so you can continue to lead an active lifestyle.
